Buying guide
Importing gym equipment from China without losing control of the specification
The short answer: agree the product, sample, documents, packing, inspection and delivery terms before production. A low unit price does not protect the project if the model, finish or loading plan changes after the deposit.

The seven-step route
A predictable import process
Market, buyer type, room, product categories and target date.
Models, dimensions, materials and available documents.
Finish, branding, movement and packaging approval.
Specification, quantity, terms and inspection points.
Production status, approved standard and pre-shipment checks.
Cartons, marks, spare parts and container loading.
Documents, transport and arrival planning.
What can go wrong
The expensive mistakes usually happen before the container
An unapproved specification
If the model, finish or accessory list is not written down, the first production run becomes the sample.
An incomplete packing plan
Mixed products, spare parts and uneven cartons can waste container space or make unloading difficult.
A document gap
Certificate scope, product model and destination-market requirements should be checked before production, not after arrival.
Import checklist
What to keep in the project file
| Product | Model, dimensions, weight, configuration and approved sample |
|---|---|
| Finish | Frame, upholstery, logo, decals and colour references |
| Documents | Certificate scope, attestation, declaration and destination requirements |
| Packing | Carton dimensions, gross weight, marks, spare parts and loading plan |
| Commercial | Scope, payment terms, inspection, delivery and warranty terms |
Buyer FAQ
Questions buyers usually ask
Should I buy a sample before a container order?
A sample can reduce finish and specification risk, especially for private-label or custom products. The value depends on the model, order size and how much is being customized.
What is the difference between a certificate and a test report?
They serve different purposes. Check the issuing organisation, standard, model coverage, validity and whether the document is a certificate, attestation or test report.
When should shipping be planned?
Plan carton data and container loading before production is complete. Changing quantities or accessories late can affect packing, freight and delivery.
